Africa is beautiful, Africa is blessed, Africa is home. So this time, I decided to work with the popular African Fabric & Ankara & and with much attention to details I came up with Ankara dresses made
out of buttons and cones, Ankara shoes, Ankara hat, Ankara earrings and even our finger nails were made out of Ankara. This project was so much fun. Also just because December is my month, I decided to join @lucia_oyedele and also be my muse. To add more to the fun, I asked mum as well to be my muse. I worked with very creative minds, @A1imagecr8tivity the talented and hardworking photographer and @esteetouch the amazing makeup artist. This collection portrays Elegance with style and creativity. My name is Selemon Susan Funke and I am proud to be an African . This is AnkarAfrica with family and friends. Have fun viewing each piece I made.

November 20, 2017

US-Nigeria Legislative & Executive Leadership Forum, on Saturday November 18, in Washington DC, USA, showered huge encomiums on the chairman, Kazeem Royal Properties Ltd, Prince Kazeem Eletu-Odibo as “Most Outstanding Philanthropist in Nigeria” by the US-Nigeria Legislative & Executive Leadership Forum for his community achievement in human development capacity and philanthropy.

As if that was not enough, he also bagged a United Nations ambassadorial title from the Convenant International University and Seminary. Having been conferred with an Honorary Doctorate Degree (Doctor Of Philosophy), he will now, henceforth, be reffered to as “Ambassador Dr Prince Kazeem Austin Eletu-Odibo”

The awardee, having thanked his admirers and orgainzers of the event, via his official Facebook page, Kazeem Royal said: “Both recognitions are somewhat special as it reminds me how far God has brought me. It reminds me of those struggles and hustles. Much more, it reminds me that no situation is permanent. It may take time, but it won’t always be dark.

“So I want to encourage someone out there who is going through hard times. No condition is permanent. Destiny may be delayed, IT CAN NEVER BE DENIED!

“I dedicate this awards to God Almighty for His Faithfulness, to all Kazeem Royal Staff, to all my well wishers who came with me to America, to all who stood by me those days,” he said

Photos: Nature Meets Fashion By Susan Rosemon (Dresses From Leaves)

October 1, 2017

This fashion project was inspired by my beloved Country Nigeria. I decided to come up with a project that will speak about how blessed Nigeria is. This was my way of celebrating Nigeria’s Independence Day. To remind Nigerians how truly blessed we are as a Nation.
The outfits were made out of green and white Leaves. The first green dress was made from the leaves of a pear tree and the second green dress from the leaves of a mango tree. However for the white dress, I had to make the leaves from A4 paper. The reason I used leaves is because of my passion for Art. I love art just as much as I love fashion. This is why my works are a combination of both art and fashion. Working with the weirdest materials is a gift God has blessed me with and I intend to use this gift to the fullest.

The theme colors were meant to replicate the Nigeria Flag “green, white, green”. Our Land is rich, that’s what the green signifies. Rich in so many untapped talent. If only we look inward and tap into this wealth of talent our country has to offer.

The White stands for Purity, Peace, Unity. We are One. As a Nation, we are the only ones that can make our country what we really want it to be. Nigeria can be a country known worldwide for peace. We only have to want it that bad and work towards it.
Let us pave the way for our future generation. Let us make our land good for them to live in. Nigeria is truly blessed. Let us be proud to be Nigerians. My name is Selemon Susan Funke and I am proud to be a Nigerian.

Susan Rosemon Inspiration / 2017 Newspaper Series Collection

September 16, 2017

Meet Selemon Susan Funke the founder of “Susan Rosemon” Fashion Brand. The fast rising fashion designer aged 23, hails from Nigeria and is a graduate of the University of Ibadan where she studied Educational management. My passion for fashion started since I was a lass. I started learning how to sew at the early age of seven from my mother who also learnt from my grandmother. It’s a family heritage. From the early age of seven, I wanted to be more creative than my mum and she really encouraged me, supported my dream and kept pushing me hard to be a better me. She has always been my number one mentor and role model.

Today I can do so much with my hands thanks to my mum. Asides from designing and making dresses; I design and make costumes, bags, shoes, hats, accessories. I also do interior decoration and can work with materials of any kind, from fabrics, paper, plastic, glass, beads, and so on. The reason I know so much is because of the drive and passion within me. Learning and creating new designs each day keeps me going in this competitive industry.

One of my memorable fashion experiences is the Nigeria’s Next Top Designer 2016 competition in which I made top 7 from over 500 fashion designers shortlisted. My 2017 Newspaper Series Collection was inspired by God. The truth is, I wouldn’t even come this far without Gods divine guidance and direction. With all these gifts that I have, I hope to inspire the upcoming generation to seat tight and be productive.

My advice to upcoming entrepreneurs, is to find something you are passionate about, learn it so well and be your own boss. You don’t need to have the talent or skill, just be passionate and love what you do. Surely there will be a lot of challenges faced, but with hard work and prayer, you will break grounds.
